On the Fence with this One
I bought this booster seat about 7 months ago. It has served us pretty well, we use it almost constantly and it's still fully functional. What I like about it: 1. It's portable-I would rather my kiddo eat on this at restaurants than sit on those nasty sticky highchairs. Plus she's little for her age so she fits in this thing better than restaurant highchairs. 2. You can easily get the tray off and throw it in the dishwasher. We have been using it as a plate because baby throws actual plates. This way she gets to self feed and we don't get flying plates during dinner. 3. Extremely easy to clean-we have a fabric covered high chair and this thing. I can get this booster cleaned off in seconds whereas the highchair requires disassembly and a trip for the cover through the washer. 4. It was CHEAP! I really didn't want to spend 30 or 40 bucks on a booster seat and the price of this one was perfect. What I don't like: 1. It was not immediately obvious how to put the safety straps on the thing. The picture and crummy instructions were not helpful. 2. You gotta WATCH little fingers with the swinging tray. I accidentally smashed my baby's fingers when locking the tray one time. I think this could happen with anything where you have a tray that you attach to something, but another time when the tray was not locked closed, baby started swinging it open and shut and smashed her other finger in the hinge where the tray is set into the seat. 3. The back has popped off of it a couple of times. Didn't hurt anybody but it was annoying. So you can see why I am on the fence. We are using it daily and it's still fully functional, but we have had some incidences...I think it would be a good product for someone who is aware going in that they need to watch the fingers at all times! The fact that baby got hurt in it and the crummy assembly instructions is why I am taking away two stars.
great for older kids and EASY TO CLEAN!!!
My daughter is 2 and wants to sit at the table with my husband and me to eat now. This seat is great for that because the tray and lap straps can come off and be used as just a booster seat. I wanted a seat that I did not need to strap her into so she could climb in and out of the seat herself. This was the only one I found that had a bump in between the legs that wouldn't be uncomfortable for a child her age. I feel that the bump helps her to stay put. My only gripe about it is that the back support comes out of place at least once a day, but it easily snaps back into place.
I bought FOUR of these!
I have twins and wanted to get rid of my highchairs. After trying two other brands out we settled on this one. It is soooo easy to clean - no holes in the seat to dig out food. My twins are 14 months old now and are about 22-23 pounds and it still works just fine. We just bought two more to take to restaurants since they wiggle their way out of the restaurant highchairs. I've had no problem with the straps loosening or the tray table being too tight as some people have stated. We did have to go back to the store twice to get a new one because the straps were missing from the box on one and another had an extra strap slot (the factory worker must have gotten trigger happy). Anyway, for now we LOVE these as we own a total of FOUR!
Don't buy this product
I had a bad feeling when I first tried strapping this to one of my kitchen chairs and I couldn't get it real tight. Then I noticed after a few days of use that I was always havening to check the straps to the chair and around my 25lb child. They always loosened up. One of the restraint straps that go around my child kept coming out of the back of the chair. It wasn't holding him in anymore. Finally one morning a restraint strap came out again and he flipped the chair by leaning sideways. He ended up upside down on a tile floor with the kitchen chair and booster on top of him. Thank God he wasn't hurt. I called Safety 1st and they are picking up the product from my house for testing since it's a new product and sending me a different booster. Hopefully this one will be "safe".
