Baby Trend Flex Lock Infant SeatFrustrated with this seat
There are two things that frustrate me about this seat. The first one is minor; the seat cover slips off on one side and will not go back on permanently. Hard to explain but it just looks bad. The second complaint has me proclaiming "I hate this car seat" almost daily. It is very difficult to press in the buttons to release the handle and put it in the down position. And the longer we have it the worst it gets. I am very close to just throwing the thing away and moving him to a convertable seat now. The positives of the seat are the triangle handle and the fabric.
Love this car seat
I can't say enough good things about this car seat. It's highly rated for safety and my 2 week old son seems to be quite comfortable in this seat. I like the brushed cotton feel of the headrest. Contrary to others, this material has not caused any problems for my son (others have said it caused their baby to sweat). Also unlike other reviewers I've had no issues with the handle of the car seat sticking and I love the triangle shape of the handle itself. It's very comfortable no matter how you hold the car seat and it's well padded to make it easy on your hands. This seat also seems to be more lightweight than other seats (we've owned Graco infant car seats in the past and I highly recommend Baby Trend over Graco). The straps on this seat are far easier to adjust than on other brands of car seats and I really like the key-fit style buckle on the harness. If space is an issue with your vehicle this seat, even when fitted into the base, is quite narrow compared to Graco but there is still plenty of room for baby. If you buy this car seat and foresee buying a lightweight frame stroller once baby no longer needs the infant seat (yes, travel systems are pretty and popular but trust me - the strollers weigh a ton and you'll get sick of hauling it around!) the snap-and-go stroller for this car seat is a wonderful option. It's extremely portable and lightweight.
Very nice seat, frustrating handle
We had purchased this seat for our daughter before she was born. We feel that it is very safe and she is comfortable in it. We also liked that we could buy an additional base since we have two cars. It snaps in and out of the bases, shopping carts and the sit and stand stroller we also purchased very easily. My complaint is that it is very hard to depress the release buttons to move the handle. It seems the longer we use it, the harder it gets. I have two other friends with the same seat and the same complaint. It is very frustrating and after just 3 months, I am looking to purchase a new seat.
Great Seat!
I ordered this seat for my little boy that is due in June. It is so soft and the handle is easy to move with out too much noise. The color and everything about it is just as it is shown online.
good seat
This is our third infant seat for our third child. We had our kids so far apart we had to get a new seat each time. This is the best seat so far. I suppose some of it just has to do with improvements that have been made in all car seats over time. However, this seat has a great feature that I have not ever seen in other seats - you never have to rethread the straps! When your baby grows, there is a knob on the back that you simply turn and the back goes up to adjust to your child's growing height! It is very easy to tighten or loosen the straps as well. The base went into our car easily (we used the LATCH system). It is also simple to get the seat out of the base. Fastening your child in and removing your child from the seat is easy, but pretty much like other seats. The fabric is very soft. The sunshade works well. There is an easily removed cover that I guess is to help keep the cold off your baby's feet, but we haven't used it since we live in a warm climate. The ONLY weakness I have found is that the handle doesn't move as easily as the Graco seats we have had in the past, but I don't use the seat as a carrier much so it hasn't been a problem. If you're the kind of person who constantly takes the seat in and out of the car, check on this at the store before buying. I tend to just leave the seat in the car and carry my baby.
